Welcome to Atlantic Preserve

Welcome to the Atlantic Preserve website. The purpose of the site is to provide you with easy access to information about the project and its many benefits to Martin County and the Treasure Coast region. Atlantic Preserve is a proposed new residential community that would be located on the north side of Bridge Road in Hobe Sound approximately a mile west of US1.

What makes this project special is that the landowner is willing to donate to the County approximately 2,300 acres of habitat – worth approximately $70 million. The property, made up of pristine wetlands and uplands, has been desired by state and local environmental agencies for many years. In February 2007, the land, a part of the Atlantic Ridge Ecosystem, was upgraded to the A List for Florida Forever’s conservation land-buying program.

In exchange for these 2,300 acres of conservation lands, the landowner is requesting that a maximum of 650 homes be allowed to cluster on approximately 400 acres of uplands. These uplands have been cleared and used for cattle grazing for several decades. The County’s Urban Services Boundary would be extended to encompass the new community and water and sewer would be provided to the future residents.

We look forward to receiving feedback from the public as the project goes through an extensive public review process.
